5 for Friday : Glitter Pumps  Not
so long ago, it seems as if a search for "glitter pumps" rarely turned
up more than a few pairs of cheap ruby slippers that were intended to be
worn as part of a Dorothy costume. Not only has the selection of
glitter pumps grown over the years, but the options have also become
more refined -- even the glitter itself is finer.Of course, you can still find plenty of pumps that are embellished chunky, vivid glitter, if that's your thing, but at least today you're not confined to red. Now that I think about it, I've even kind of surprised myself by putting together this week's Five for Friday collection of glittery pumps, and not including a single red shoe -- quite a feat for one who is as obsessed with red footwear as I am. |
Flat Boots for Women  I'm sure I've mentioned by now that I have a lot
of flat boots. In fact, I'm a bit honestly a bit obsessed. I have so
many that I love, but my favorite pair ever was a pair from Chinese
Laundry that I purchased about 5 years ago.They were tall, flat, black, and simple, and I wore them with everything for about 3 weeks, until I accidentally dripped white paint on them. After unsuccessfully trying for a year or so to find a similar replacement, I actually resorted to "painting" over the white paint spot with a black permanent marker. Definitely not my finest moment, but the spot was small, and from a distance, you couldn't really tell. Still though, it was never quite the same. Anyway, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this season's 'Foster' from Chinese Laundry. No, they're definitely not exactly the same as my beloved boots from all those years ago, but they're close enough for disco -- and at less than $90 per pair, I'm willing to take a shot. |
